QuickTime Development
A multimedia framework developed by Apple.
Overview
Apple QuickTime was the first technology to enable video playback on a personal computer. QuickTime was released in 1991, almost a year before Microsoft's Video for Windows (which later evolved into DirectShow).
QuickTime consists of three components: the QuickTime file format, a media player and a software development kit (both for the Macintosh and Windows platforms).
For more information on QuickTime see Wikipedia or Apple's web site.
QuickTime Development
A software development kit is available within the QuickTime framework for developers to create software that uses QuickTime. A DirectShow wrapper (source filter) is available from MediaLooks since 2005 and allows developers to playout QuickTime media within their multimedia applications without any direct interaction with the QuickTime API. See QuickTime DirectShow Source for more information.
